The Birds & The Bees

This experimental film flips the script on the classic “birds and the bees” talk, exposing how it leaves queer youth out of the picture. Without inclusive sex education, many are forced to piece things together on their own—often through porn or passed-down community codes. The film leans into that chaos, using fragmented, reworked adult imagery to capture just how confusing and disorienting that process can be. It also weaves in the hanky code, a historic system of nonverbal signaling, as a nod to the creative, coded ways queer communities have navigated desire and identity.
